On Friday, March 16, the 10th edition of the Wineries Rally (“Rally de las Bodegas”) will be held in Mendoza, Argentina. Over 70 classic cars will go through the amazing Wine Route.
The Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) has included this event to its international calendar, containing the most important event under the sun.
Vineyards, gourmet cuisine at the foot of the mountain, and polo exhibitions are part of this attraction declared of Provincial Touristic Interest by the Government of the Province of Mendoza, taking part of the Grape Harvest 2012.
Astonishing scene
Five wineries of WineSur will participate in the rally’s official route. Activities will start on March 15 with a symbolic start from Park Hyatt Mendoza hotel. The 71 participating vehicles will visit “Cerro la Gloria” hill, located in the General San Martín Park and go back to downtown.
The real race will start on Friday 16, in which drivers must complete certain stages with regularity and complex driving, keeping always an average speed under 50 km/h.
The first stop will be Piatelli Vineyards, a winery located in Luján de Cuyo that makes wines under the organic winemaking concept. Then, after touring the majestic high mountain routes, cars will be welcome at Norton winery, also in Luján de Cuyo.
Finally, ending the second day of the event, cars will reach Trapiche winery. Its 129 years of history and 1,000-hectare vineyards are combined with cutting-edge technology.
The third and last stage will start with an exhibition at Jorge A. Pena racetrack, in San Martín, Mendoza. Afterwards, racers will go towards the Uco Valley, where they will visit Tapiz winery.
The following stop will be Salentein winery, producer of wines characterized by quality, made in the Uco Valley. Lastly, the scene for the close of the event will be Pulenta Estate, another Premium winery located in Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo. Its wines are born by combining handwork with state-of-the-art technology.
