Charlie Arturaola, sommelier and protagonist of “The ways of wine”

“We are looking forward to a great celebration for the premiere in Mendoza”

Charlie Arturaola, protagonist of this film about Argentine wine filmed in Mendoza, presents it at Independencia Theater in September. Stephen Tanzer is coming to the avant premiere and will be part of the jury that will select wines for Park Hyatt BistroM’s new wine list.

After having its premiere in several countries, with more than 2,500 spectators, “The ways of wine” avant premiere will finally arrived in Mendoza. It is taking place on September 12 at Independencia Theater, while its commercial premiere will be on August 2.

Charlie Arturaola, protagonist of the film, talks about the film’s journey through all these years. He also reveals to WineSur that the premiere in Mendoza is framed within the “Park Hyatt Mendoza Wine Challenge 2012″, a contest in which Stephen Tanzer, wine critic and journalist of International Wine Cellar, will be present as a judge.

When is the premiere?

The film’s premiere is on September 12 at Independencia Theater; “we are looking forward to a great celebration”. Expectations are high; we come back home eager to show the film to Mendoza people and the wineries (Tempus, Krontiras, Dominio del Plata, Bousquet, Bianchi, Tapiz, Norton) that made a great effort to take part in this amazing production by Cactus Cine.

What languages has it been translated into and where can it be seen?

It has been translated into Danish, Polish, German, English, Slovene, Chinese, Croatian and Italian. The film is already on cable TV in the US; it was also released in Canada; it will be out soon in Spain, Taiwan and Korea and it is on DVD in Japan, Croatia and Slovenia.

What recognitions have the film achieved?

It was awarded “Best Movie” at the 25º Festival Internacional de Mar del Plata and was among the top 5 films of Culinary Cinema at Berlinale, which caught the eye of the international audience. Moreover, it participated in festivals such as 59th Donostia Zinemaldia, San Sebastian Film Festival (Culinary Zinema), at the Napa Valley Film Festival, Official Selection, at Poznan Transatlantik, Poland 2011, Official Selection, at La Mirada Film Festival, Melbourne Australia and at the Piriápolis Festival, Uruguay 2011. Finally, three weeks ago, it won “Best Script” at Œnovidéo International Grape and Wine Film Festival.

What is “Park Hyatt Mendoza Wine Challenge 2012″ about?

The avant premiere of the film is framed within this wine tasting, in which a national and international jury, led by Stephen Tanzer and I, is going to select by price and variety, on a blind tasting, the new wines for BistroM restaurant wine list.
