Colomé in Jay Miller’s last publication

Jay Miller, Wine Advocate’s former taster of Argentine wines, published his last scores, as well as the best producers and wines in Argentina on 23rd December.
He granted 2008 Colomé Reserva (USD 75) 94 points and selected it as one of The Best Wines. Besides, Colomé was included in the Best Producers list.

Wines

Colomé Estate Malbec 2009

Grape variety: Malbec 85% - Tannat 8% - Cabernet Sauvignon 3% - Syrah 2% - Petit Verdot 2%
Sight: bright and deep-red wine
Nose: Iit is intense and complex in the nose, with aromas of black fruits and notes of clove, nutmeg and black pepper
Mouth: in the mouth, it is full-bodied but velvety with sweet and ripe tannins. It is very well balanced with the wood, which leaves vanilla notes and toasted tones. It has a lingering finish

Colome Malbec Estate 2010

Grape variety: Malbec 85% - Tannat 8% - Syrah 3% - Petit Verdot 2% - Cabernet Sauvignon 2%
Sight: Purple with magenta hues.
Nose: A captivating nose of cedar, Asian spices, incense, violet flowers, licorice notes, espresso and black fruits.
Mouth: It is a succulent and muscular version of Malbec. The finish is fine, delicate and long. Full of round and velvety tannins.

Colomé Reserva Malbec 2008

Grape variety: Malbec 100%
Sight: black, deep and intense color
Nose: nose of ripe fruit, blackberries, black pepper and plum. Touch of vanilla and mineral
Mouth: voluminous and powerful in the mouth. Round wine with lots of fine and harmonious tannins

About us

Since 1831, Colomé winery has been making the famous high-altitude wines. In 2011, it celebrated its 180th anniversary being the oldest working winery in Argentina. Its grapes come from 4 different high-altitude vineyards spread out through the Calchaquí Valleys: Finca La Brava in Cafayate at 1,750 meters; Finca Colomé at 2,300 meters, next to the winery; Finca El Arenal at 2,700 meters; and finally, Finca Altura Máxima at 3,111 meters, the highest vineyard in the world; both located in Payogasta.

It has recently added both the "Estancia" and the James Turrell Museum to offer a unique and unexpected experience in the vastness of the Calchaquí Valleys.
