Highlights of the third edition of Sparkling Nights

This last Friday, the 3rd edition of Sparkling Nights, the sparkling wines annual fair organized by JOY magazine, took place at the Hotel Panamericano in Buenos Aires. This edition was the most successful of all. More than 3400 people present, 30 wineries, 200 labels, 10 food stands, 9 cooking lesson open to the public, music, good vibes among visitors (under 35 mostly) and much more.

For the ones that were present and want to recall it, for those who missed it and want to know everything about it, find in this article some highlights of the wineries and sparkling wines: the protagonists of this great bubble party.

Dante Robino: one of the main sparkling wine producers of Argentina offered its wines in a modern stand. Novecento Cuvée Extra Brut and Novecento Capriccio, the new natural sweet, were tasted. The Novecento Cuvée Rosé, which was released in the fair, joined them.

Casa Bianchi: the Mendozan winery that specializes in traditional method, presented its elegant Ediciones Limitadas 2000- a delicious rarity for the wine’s age- and its fresh Bianchi Extra Brut with a renewed star-shaped label in which the yellow color predominates.

Norton: the centenarian winery located in Perdriel displayed its ranges of sparkling wines Cosecha Especial and the novel Cosecha Tardía. The first, easily distinguished for its unusual bottle, surprised the public with the freshness and dryness of the Brut Nature, older brother of the classic Extra Brut. The natural sweet was the girls’ favorite who enjoyed it at the stand or at the winery’s exclusive livings in the middle of the room.

Salentein and Callia: the Dutch holding offered its new creations: Salentein Cuvée Speciale Extra Brut and Salentein Cuvée Exceptionnelle Brut Nature. However, the star of the show was the Callia Dulce Natural that was exclusively presented during the three days.

Ruca Malén winery took its first steps with sparkling wines last year. Its Ruca Malen Brut, of an eye-catching label showing a woman’s profile, was among the favorite of treasure hunters for its rich and attractive fruity nose.

Familia Schroeder: the only Patagonia winery that focuses on sparkling wines. It showed its well-achieved Saurus Extra Brut and Rosa de los Vientos, this last, a 100% Pinot Noir rosé. But there is absolutely no doubt that the icing on the cake was the Deseado: the natural sweet sparkling wine made from Torrontés.

Trapiche presented its best bubbles, from its Extra Brut to its Brut Nature- that carries 10% of Malbec grapes (a well kept secret within the stand). This year’s novelty was the rosé, a distinguished exponent made of 100% Pinot Noir grapes from Uco Valley. The winery’s living decorated with balloons- just like its advertisements- was the eye catcher at the fair.

Nieto Senetiner: one of the houses that has grown the most in the production of bubbles in the last years, was present at the Sparkling Nights with its most renowned labels: Extra Brut, Brut Nature, and Natures, the house’s classics. And also Grand Cuvee Brut, Extra Brut, and Nature, this last, a high class refreshing jewel of soft bubbles.

Finca Flichman presented a single sparkling wine, its Flichman Extra Brut, a blend of Chardonnay and Malbec that represents a rarity for its fresh and fruity flavor, perfect for toasts. Apart from the praises for the wine, men sung praises to the female promoters who added glamour to the stand.

Fin del Mundo. The Patagonia winery offered its Extra Brut, made of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, apart from an avant premier of its rosé, 100% Pinot Noir that will be released next year. At the fair, those present had a chance to taste it from an unlabeled bottle.

Finca Las Moras was present with a beautiful and modern living. Those who visited it, tasted the winery’s Syrah and Viognier sparkling wine: a rosé and a white that stand out for their rich mouth and unbeatable value for money; specially the rosé that has no competition in its segment.
