About us

Cafayate Valley is a Premium area, located in the North of Argentina, at
1,700 meters above sea level. This region is considered a great place for
producing high-quality red wines and floral whites, such as the famous
Torrontés.
The excellent terroir and microclimate of Cafayate convinced David and
Salvador Michel, of French origin, of establishing a winery in that region. In
1892, they planted the first vineyard and built the winery, aimed at making
Premium wines following the "Estate" concept, with a preferential positioning in
restaurants, wine-shops and high-profile retailers.
Moreover, Bodega El Esteco produces organic grapes in its estate El Tránsito, from which the CUMA organic wines are made. The winery boasts the amazing 5-star Hotel & Wine Spa, named Patios de Cafayate. The hotel is adjacent to the winery. The tourist proposal is thematic, where visitors can experience a total immersion in the wine world. During their stay, they can discover the wine secrets and participate in the harvest and other activities.
