About us

In 1880, Pascual Toso left his birthplace in Canal D'Alba Piemonte, Italy and migrated to Argentina. At that time, he could not possibly imagine that he would become the founder of a winery which is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Argentina today.

As soon as Pascual Toso arrived in Argentina, he settled in Mendoza and started working in an import business. However, he soon noticed the exceptional quality of the local grapes and firmly believed that there was a promising future for winemaking in Mendoza. As he had been closely involved in the development of his family wine business in Piemonte, he decided to do the same in Mendoza. Then, in 1890, he established his first winery in San José, Guaymallén.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the founder decided to expand the business and bought vineyards in Maipú, in order to achieve the best quality grapes. Then, he bought the estate “Las Barrancas” and built another winery.

With the aim of improving the winery’s services, in 2001 the company hired Paul Hobbs, a well-known Californian consultant, in order to increase the quality and style of the wines. The results are already noticeable, since the winery’s wines have achieved several international awards in the last years.
