About us
Terrazas de los Andes' story began as the LVMH subsidiary Moët & Chandon toured the world searching to establish its first vineyards outside France. In the late 1950's, the luxury group's Chief Winemaker, Renaud Poirier, chose Mendoza, Argentina, as the destination for its first international experiment.
Terrazas de los Andes winery was inaugurated following the restoration of an old Spanish-style winery. The estate was established in 1898, in the heart of Perdriel facing the impressive Cordón del Plata, a section of the Andes Mountains, where the cultivation of the best red grapes in Mendoza is concentrated.
Building on more than 50 years of research and development on Mendoza's terraced microclimates, Terrazas de los Andes has established a philosophy based on Argentina´s primary advantage in the world of winemaking: ideal altitude grape cultivation. Through the cultivation of grapes originated in the best viticulture regions, Terrazas de los Andes has identified those with the greatest adaptation to each area and consequently determined the ideal altitude for each variety.
